Group Update 18th October 2021

Monday, 18th October, 2021

BR Standard Class 4    2–6–4 T     No  80097

80097 continues to be regularly rostered on the ELR on both service and dining trains.

She is maintained by the small team of Alan, Carl and Matt.

Ivatt ‘Mogul’  Class 2 MT  2-6-0    No  46428

Work is continuing on the restoration of our Ivatt loco as our team return after the covid lockdown.

Stuart has been working on welding the side window supports.

Keith, Peter, Peter and Adrian have now completed the sandblasting and priming of the boiler.

Dave, Nigel and Chris have continued the refurbishment of the pony truck and preparing the assembly for rebuilding. They have also reinforced the main axle support brackets and cab support brackets.

New pivot pins have been turned by Alan.

Plans are now being made for the boiler, driving wheels,  pony truck wheels and the main new cab metalwork, which are on two low loaders in the Baron Street yard, to be moved in early November and placed outside our workshop. At the same time the frame will be moved inside our workshop.  All the Ivatt main parts will then be close to our workshop.

Our Workshop

Nigel’s fifty five foot bogie bolster D has been moved down to Baron Street where Keith has sandblasted and primed it.

The workshop is now being tidied up and prepared ready for the Ivatt main parts to be moved in November.

Shop

Our fund raising Shop coach at the end of platform 2 at Bury Bolton Street station is open every weekend and our supporters and railway passengers are slowly returning to visit us.

As well as increasing our displays of 00 gauge models, we have now introduced a range of n gauge rolling stock.

Access to the Shop has now returned to be via platform 2.
