Hi Again. A few bits of news. Our recent notice of the vacancy for a financial officer has been successful. Ann Cleverley, one of our members has agreed to be our new finance officer. You will have seen Ann at events supporting our promotional stand and helping promote our raffles. She has taken over from Joanne Ormesher. Joanne left the steam department at the ELR and no longer wished to be involved. She kindly stayed on until a replacement could be found. We wish Joanne all the best for the future and thank her for her service to our group.

Cylinder re-assembly completed with gland build up next Tuesday. Side rods are being replaced. Steam test provisionally pencilled in for Friday 22nd May. Return to traffic soon after.

A significant milestone is imminent. The first stage of foundation ring repair and prep for final testing was completed yesterday. Our boilersmith, John Varley, came to site and carried out weld repairs to areas of the ring where faults could be detected visually. There were hairline cracks in two of the inner radiuses. These have been ground back and welded up. Now for the definitive Magnetic Particle Testing (MPI). If no further defects are found it means our item can be passed for re-use. This will save significant time and money. We are awaiting a visit from the boiler inspector to establish the final cut line for plate removal of the outer wrapper platework. We can then set about plate removal outside over the summer months with a view to returning the boiler trolley inside as the weather deteriorates. We are currently "roughing out" the fourth and final slidebar. Two are at Adelaide Engineering awaiting collection. The third has ready to accompany the fourth for machining. Wish us luck!
