Workshop Update 20th June

Saturday, 20th June, 2015

Allan and Richard have continued to machine the manifold valves.

Nigel and Jim have carried on working on the ash pan.

Nigel, Phil and Harry have been making brackets for fixing the ends of the boiler bands together.

Stuart has continued his steady work on making and fitting the cylinder end covers.

Mark, Colin, Jim and Hughie have continued with the sanding and painting. The driver’s side of the engine forward of the cab, the back and fireman’s side rear of the cab have now been painted in the first coat of black and it’s looking good. Hughie has started to strip off all the paint on the smokebox ready for painting.

Phil and Harry have been working on aligning the blast pipe with the chimney, as this setting is critical for proper firing of the loco.

Harry has fitted the deflector glass on both sides of the engine.
