Workshop Update 11th August

Thursday, 11th August, 2016

Standard 4 mt   80097

We are still waiting for the boiler to be returned. A final action plan has now been prepared with Dalgleish Engineering and we are now expecting the boiler to be returned with a steam test ticket in mid October.

In the meantime the injector bodies are being machined and an ash pan spray pipe is being prepared.

Work continues on the Ivatt  46428 in the interim:

The axle boxes have been removed out of the horn guides to minimise the distortion of the frames whilst the horn ties were taken off. The horn ties and the frame area where they fit have been cleaned.

The driving wheels have now been transferred to a low fit wagon and steam cleaned.

The control springs on the pony truck have been removed and other assembly bolts have been cut off. Refurbishment has now started.

Pressure cleaning of the frame has started.

The cab has been removed by gas axe and the running boards removed.

We have made new bushes and pins for the bolster hangers of a Craven DMU for another ELR group.   New bolster oak blocks have also been prepared.

Fund raising – our shop staff maintain their efforts every weekend and we have run a couple of car boot sales. The Group has received donations from “Paul’s auctions for charity” of £150 and £100, which we gratefully acknowledge.
