Work continues

Wednesday, 26th November, 2014

Since the departure of the boiler, work has continued at a steady pace on the engine.

Hughie has started all the preparation work on the engine, getting it ready for painting.

Allan has collected the grate parts from the Severn Valley Railway, and Nigel has started to drill the rocking grate cross bars. This is caused a bit of a dilemma as the drawing said one size and the original parts another. After a lengthy discussion it was decided to go with the original dimensions.

Jimmy has removed all the cab windows so the Hughie can find someone to do the glazing.

Stuart has been welding up the tank straps and then polished them off ready for painting. He then moved onto blending in the welding on the regulator rod to make it all look pretty.

As well as all this there has been a major tidying up inside and outside of the shed so it now looks less like Steptoes yard!!

The Sales Coach has been going from strength to strength since the sort out. We always need more help in here as well as any donations of items we can sell.

We now have members down most Saturdays and Sundays so feel free to drop in and give us a hand.
