Workshop Update to the 5th March

Friday, 20th March, 2015

Work continues at a steady pace - marked by new deliveries.

The copper for the steam pipes has been delivered - you don't get much for £2500  !!   Allan has turned some bungs, so that the pipes can be filled with sand ready for bending

Stuart has welded tie bars for the wagon group, a control shaft and replaced some of the front plate fixing nuts while Harry worked on the new front plate.

Nigel worked on the motion and then assisted Allan on the steam heat and boiler gauge bracket. He and Harry drilled and fitted the hinge pins for the oil pots.

Jimmy has turned a shaft for the steam heat control rod and he and Dave have set up a water bath for annealing the copper pipes.

Phil and Dave have been working on the clip for the rocking grate bar.

The cladding and damper control mechanism has been painted by Sharon, who has started to organise the drawings filing system.

Hughie, Mark and Colin have continued with filling and sanding down the loco sides and then painted the backhead and boiler cladding. We have collected a new supply of paint from Ripon.

It was an ELR Steam Weekend on the 21st / 22nd February and although the Sunday was bad weather, our shop staff of Dennis, John and Irene, assisted by Norah, worked hard and raised £500 - a brilliant effort.

We have started a Wednesday Club at the workshop for those who can come down midweek.
